Imagine an artwork as complex as you, made up of all the little pieces of your past and present. Memory Mosaics use your sentimental objects to create elaborate, hand-crafted, personalized mosaics. The artist will work with you to design and create a truly unique piece. You choose the colors and size and provide the artist with any objects you’d like to be incorporated into the mosaic artwork (maybe it’s a seashell from an unforgettable trip or glass marbles from a childhood game). The artist will even hand-paint tiles with imagery that’s important to you. The final piece will be the artist’s own interpretation of your most meaningful memories: a beautiful, one-of-a-kind mosaic perfect for milestones, birthdays, anniversaries and celebrations of life’s merriest and messiest moments.

Artist

I’m an artist who works with many different mediums, and mosaic art is something that especially speaks to my heart.

A few years ago, I went to visit a friend who had just returned from a long summer vacation. She was especially excited to give me “a little something” she’d gotten for me on her trip. She opened her hands to reveal a beautiful, clay dragonfly ornament. But as she was handing it to me, she dropped it. The dragonfly broke into pieces right in front of our eyes.

She was distraught! But I assured her I could give the broken dragonfly a second life.

I went home and incorporated the clay dragonfly into a mosaic, adding fragments of tile I had hand painted to create a whimsical piece of landscape art. I showed it to my friend – see, fixed! She insisted – not just fixed, improved!

This made me think about all of the mementos that don’t get a second life. The objects we cherish but keep hidden away in boxes for protection. Yes, they’ll never get lost or broken, but how often do we get to look at them? That’s the reason why I started making Memory Mosaics. I want to work with people to take objects of high emotional value (even broken ones) and use my artistic skills to transform them into a work of art they’ll take pleasure in looking at each and every day. It brings me joy to create artwork that let people live with their most cherish, loved, and memorable keepsakes.

Memories:

“I had a commissioned piece of mosaic art created by Linda a few years ago when my children were still young. I wanted something to represent my family unit and our shared lives. I wanted a keepsake for my son and daughter. What Linda created for us is beyond what I could have imagined. Incorporating a few personalized and symbolic items in her artwork, she has managed to tastefully capture the essence of my family life. Her work of art is a beautiful daily reminder of not just our shared lives, but also the abundance of our shared love.”
